Our coating materials are sourced from the leading Chromium Oxide Ceramic manufacturers which are regularly batch tested. Cr2O3 provides durability, abrasion resistance and is ideal for laser engraving when applied to a clean surface. As a business we have a set of criteria for our coating supplier, which includes:

  • Constant tab sampling
  • Porosity level tolerance of 1-2%
  • Hardness value of 1300 Vickers
  • Homogeneity levels
  • Bond strength

Our advanced manufacturing procedures are tightly controlled within the in-house engineering department creating strong cell walls to meet the demands of wear when in continual use with a doctor blade. Indeed, our Enhanced Densification Treatment (EDT) has been developed to provide a preventative barrier to substrate corrosion and oxidisation. It is applied prior to laser engraving making the chromium oxide ‘ceramic’ coating totally impervious to any liquid.

As a result, EDT will promote a more efficient and consistent ink evacuation from the engraved cells leading to a higher transfer percentage.
