Polishing or finishing as it is sometimes referred to is our final stage of manufacturing following laser engraving. Our methods are a closely guarded secret however the aim and outcome are a precise, even and smooth series of cell walls across the anilox roll. This is a very exact process as we must maintain the volume of the engraving whilst removing a microscopic amount of cell wall.
Polishing allows the blade to bed into the anilox a lot more quickly, allowing the engraving to be working at full capacity as quickly as possible. A poorly finished anilox can damage the doctor blade. Our cell designs are more robust due to our unique micro-finishing process conducted after engraving without compromising cell release characteristics.

The major benefit of this is to create a stronger, smoother cell that is more robust against the doctor blade. Making the cell more resistant to score lines and therefore offering printers extended anilox lifespan and reducing the overall inventory and therefore reducing annual spend.
Additional benefits of our dedication to finishing and polishing the final anilox include increased release characteristics, reducing the potential for ink starvation at high speed. And easier cleaning as there is less opportunity for the ink or coating to become trapped in the cell. We take great care not to over polish our rolls as this will create thick cell walls and poor release characteristics. Our accurate Voltec Measuring Equipment provides the facility to certificate every roll produced prior to despatch.
